Active Matter maps: environments and raid markers.
The three launch biomes describe broad settings, not a three-map limit. Use the environment overview to recognize the setting, then the marker reference to read objectives and threat information in your current raid.

The three launch environments
| FAQ environment | What distinguishes it | What the label does not tell you |
|---|---|---|
| Soviet restricted island | Laboratories on an island; Steam also describes industrial complexes and science labs. | It is not the name of every individual island raid. |
| Central Africa quarantine zone | A quarantined region in Central Africa. | The biome name does not establish which mode a location supports. |
| Abandoned U.S. coastal city | An abandoned urban setting on the U.S. coast. | A city image does not locate an objective or evacuation point. |
Check the mode alongside the location name: the FAQ says some locations are specific to PvE, PvP or PvPvE. A route from a different mode may therefore describe a different playable location.
Location names you may see in official notes
| Name | Useful official context |
|---|---|
| Shegolskoe, Ozernoe, Factory, Airport | Update 0.4.0.93 added descriptions of valuable-loot locations within these areas. These are location names, not four extra biomes. |
| Dalniy Island, Anguka Anga | The same update names these locations when changing monster density in indoor Isolated Raids. Do not infer identical encounters in every mode. |
| Downtown | Update 0.4.0.73 increased this raid’s duration to 45 minutes. It does not establish a global raid timer. |

How to read the raid map
| On-screen cue | Meaning or action |
|---|---|
| Objective icon and colored circle | Match the map icon to the same icon in the objective list. |
| Progress ring with milestones | Read progress around the objective icon; completion and failure have distinct icons. |
| Corner marks | Identify mandatory or extraction-required objectives. |
| Tips below the objective list | Check early-extraction and extraction requirements here. |
| Threat marker | Inspect its tooltip for camp, grove or lair type, size shown by threat color, and possible loot categories. |
| Dashed line on the raid summary map | A portal teleport is shown this way; it is not a continuous path you walked. |
For example, an objective’s corner mark is a reason to inspect its exit requirement before following the matching map icon. A threat marker showing possible loot is not a guarantee that a specific item will spawn.

What this reference covers
This page explains the official location vocabulary and UI legend through 0.4.0.115. It does not supply a drawn route, extraction coordinates or a fixed loot-spawn map. The environment picture is context; use the current in-game map for navigation.

September 17 map and controller changes
In 0.4.0.115, the Vehicle Transfer marker rotates with the vehicle’s direction of travel. The update also fixes a controller issue that prevented the map from opening with the B / Circle button. If a mapped action instead says “Unassigned”, check its binding: the new tooltip explicitly identifies an unbound control.
The patch names corrected Vehicle Transfer spawns in Dogorsk and a Flowermen spawn fix in the Dam workshop. These are version notes, not permanent loot or enemy coordinates.
